Introduction to Mesosculpt

MesoSculptingĀ for body contouring has been used in Europe for the last decade with great results. At Illuminesse, we use mesosculpting for facial recontouring of the under-the-eye fat pads, cheek fat (jowls), and under the chin fat. Mesosculpting is a procedure used to reduce, eliminate and contour specific undesired fat pockets. This method targets the receptors on fat cells that produce lipogenesis (fat production) and lipolysis (fat breakdown). Receptors that break down fat are known as beta receptors; those that create fat are alpha receptors. Alpha receptors are stimulated to produce fat when you ingest food containing carbohydrates, fat, amino acids, hormones or alcohol.
Simply, mesosculpting involves injecting a customised cocktail of fat-burning substances which are delivered just under the surface of your skin - the mesoderm, where the effects can be maximal. The mesoderm is targeted most effectively with our special ultra-fine mesotherapy needles.
People who have had mesosculpting see differences in the shapes of the sculpted areas, giving a more youthful and less haggard appearance to the face.
Mesosculpting is usually performed in an initial series of 3-4 treatments spaced a week apart. Results are maintained by twice a year touch up sessions.
About Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a safe, natural alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures. Unlike other medical treatments, mesotherapy is administered directly to the desired area. This limits side-effects, reduces the possibility of drug interactions, and allows for a substantial reduction in the amount of medicine utilised for each procedure. Mesotherapy is categoried as belonging to the science of homotoxicology, where illness is considered to be the human body's defense against toxic substances. As your skin ages, circulation decreases, and the resulting reduction of oxygen and nutrients hinders your body's ability to flush out toxins. This is what drives premature aging and causes the skin to develop an ashen appearance. Mesotherapy, pioneered in the 1950's by French physician, Dr. Michel Pistor, is the painless injection of vitamins, minerals, medications, and amino acids placed just under the surface of the skin. Mesotherapy has a variety of applications including cellulite reduction, body contouring, face and neck rejuvenation, and hair regrowth. Therefore, the injected solution is individually prepared depending on its purpose. Mesotherapy is a highly effective rejuvenating treatment. At Illuminesse, we focus on mesotherapies to tone and tighten sagging skin on the face, neck hands, and reduce the accumulation of fat under the eyelids, the cheeks, and under the chin. In Europe, women often start treatments in their thirties, but mesotherapy can prove valuable during any stage of a woman's life. Wrinkles, localised fat deposits and skin rejuvenation are the most effective complaints successfully treated with mesotherapy. Mesotherapy in combination with Botox for whole face treatments are also revealing overwhelming results.
Indications/Contraindications for Mesosculpting
Patients with bleeding disorders, infections, skin disease or known allergies or sensitivities to the substances used should not receive the Mesosculpt. Patients on anti-coagulant therapies (including aspirin) should not receive the Mesosculpting unless the physician feels it is reasonably safe to discontinue the therapy for a couple of days before the treatment. This is because patients on anti-coagulant therapy bleed too much which makes the procedure take many times longer to perform. Further, these patients are at a much higher risk of significant bruising.
Mesotherapy Natural Tips
Here are some all-natural over-the-counter remedies for discomfort you may feel between sessions. These tips help deal with the minor bruises and swelling that may be left over from a previous mesotherapy session (also great for after dermal fillers):
Tea bag: Place a cooled tea bag on a bruise and leave it there for an extended period to help is heal faster (the best type would be comfrey, if you have it)
Vinegar: Soak a cloth with white vinegar and place it on your bruise for up to 60 minutes (cut it with distilled water if you don't like the smell).
Vitamin K: Eat leafy green vegetables days before mesotherapy sessions and you'll be more resistant to bruising. Aim for 60-80 mcg a day without taking supplements (for example, 1/4 cup broccoli has about 105 mcg, 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise has 11 mcg)
Witchhazel: Place a cloth soaked with distilled witch hazel to the area of the body that is swollen.
Ice packs: Always the old standby. Using them will reduce any redness and swelling.
